i been followed Magnicide stuffs since their debut on tape, they still do a great job of refining what is grindcore is all about from each releases that they produced, this new CD really extremely consistent, no low point and no tracks that i'd skip!! everything fits perfectly , really fast and blast beat parts..
really remind me of Assuck and 324 with heavy weave a whirlwind of guitar work, a thick sludge bass providing a wall of sound, deep throaty vocals familiar of 324 sounding vox, great mix of blast beats drumming, really nice mixture of different beats and fills, singalong here and there and they stand out with really nice riff or even a solo!!
this is a solid full length that they still have and extremely thick and crushing atmosphere.. a great addiction to any grinder's collection

what a shocked news? actually this news exposed out on early june2009, but i dont noticed it (maybe too busy with work and don't do any internet surf )until the frontman, acai text me, hehe sorry dude... so i take my opportunity to pay tribute and say some words of wisdom.....

Seems like DEP is no longer relevant to us. Not like 15 years ago. So we started it in Kuantan and we ended it there too. To friends who can’t make it, I’m sorry but you missed it!"
i first heard their first ep/demo with grey cover (i remember that) somewhere around 1995/96, and i'm been friend with tojeng(their 2nd guitarist), i'm in the same university with him 95/96 era.. and yeah! we fucking skateboarding together! you love crooked grind! and heelflip, bro!",... i met only once with their frontman, acai? hehe even it was a short occasion(we will meet again in near future, watch out bro!)and yeah! we dig the same music, bro!! hail old earache records!! haha (just to name a few...) panther - just meet him once in Giant Plentong, JB with BB(where the hell this guy located??)cheers!!
what can i say, those freaks were the architect that making kuantan one of the best scene in the mid to late 90's... music is on their blood and i hope they would not stop playing music...

hola... again me and my buddy, Mr Saha from Times Still Here online hardcore zine abused our holiday, go to the cinema and watch the screen, well this is my first time reviewing movie that i never done it before either in my zine or other else zine,.. Shinjuku Incident is latest outfit from Jackie Chan(He plays role as Steelhead or Kepala Besi??in the movie.. what the fuck? haha) to be honest, i'm impressed at first by the movie title, it's Japanese!! one of the area district in Tokyo, Japan... Lots of news about the movie getting banned in China due to the movie brutality assault, The movie somehow show reflects the dark side of Shinjuku,Tokyo,Japan ...how an illegal immigrants were working, how they survived?,chased off by police, brewing in Shinjuku between rival Yakuza gangs, betray, capitalism, blend the action and drama with sentimentality and moments of extreme violence...what can i say this story revolves when they had more complications in their life when they crossed path with several own allies and yakuzas internal conflict. For my view, there a lot of "realness" in this movie, and i dont complain how the movie goes flow or how the movie end, just perfect blend heavy struggle movie, like one quote said " you cannot escape from yakuza....." well for Jackie... he didnt fight using his martial art much, less fight but emotional, he also tries hard not to smile and not even make any stupid joke either... yeah! Jackie really taking this role seriously and far away different from his previous movies, salute! Overall the movie is really enjoyable and got hidden messages that you shouldfind yourself if you want to survive in this world of capitalism.... must have this one, hope for BlueRay DVD Disc in your collection shelf...

what a trip?! i enjoy every moment in Bangkok,Thailand from 2nd January 2009 till 7th January 2009(even myself taking a risk that before i go there a lot of chaos,riot and protest news that we heard in the news here, so far i'm safe and in good condition for this trip, thanx god...)..even this is the third time i go there... eating great foods!! all their signature dishes,(mango sticky rice kicking ass!!!) floating market(this one really classic!! a must for you.. thai fanatics! haha but you must wake up earlier for this trip...), oil massage (mr payung in reading... must try this one... cheap and good!!), shopping (wowowo!! fucking great!! their weekend market called chaktukchak is huge... almost lost in there,... i'm in there maybe like 4-5hours?? fucking huge!!)the rest of the shopping malls are great too...you can get the best price ever...bargain and keep on bargain...their handmade craft fucking excellent!! very good for souvenier,...alot and alot of things here you can explore here... and yeah!! like usual, myself meet my own control records Thailand branch mate, Mr Sano, he aka Lowfat frontman.. we been eaten great food, grinding floating market and make some noise!!! haha, Mr Sano been asking me for keep some money for future and he will bring me down to his hometown...Nagoya,Japan (yeah!! i love to go there and i'm start to keep some money for it)and he told me if got chance maybe we can meet Unholy Grave or maybe NiceView....so cant wait for it....!! so the next tour will be Nagoya, Japan.......

Hello dude! How are you? How’s life? Please tell me something about DEP(Dull Entertainment Programme)? What the name means to you…the current line up? what is your purpose as a band? How this band get together? What’s the reason for starting a band in the first place? What do you hope to accomplish? What do u do beside playing in a band? How many releases you have so far? How long as you been in the scene? Do you happy with it? Or you just bored and disillusioned? Or maybe u wanna jump off from the scene and start a new trend hype?hehe or maybe you guys wanna do a shuffle?hehe…. What are the bands, zines, book, model, (perhaps supermodel?), community, TV etc that damn give impact to you(influences)?
Hey dude! I’m good. Life is just great with friends and family. Apart from the depart of our good friend, Lan of Kuchalana, things have been great.
The name Dull Entertainment Programme is actually a reflection towards our local entertainment programme (tv,radio etc). It’s just how we see these programmes as… NOT entertaining at all!

Our current line-up is Tojeng – guitar/vocals, Panther – bass, Bem – drums, and me – vocals/guitar. When we started, our main intention is to play songs that we wrote, that’s all. Another reason might be because, me and Tojeng tried to do something different, musically. Because we played for bands that sound so hardcore/grindcore and stuff. So we’re looking for something quite melodic and catchy in this new band.
As a band, we dreamt that we could play for Ozzfest for a day….NOT! Nah… I can’t say this for the rest of the band because they might have different goals in mind. But for me, it’s about something that I want to do. I want to write songs…good songs. If people listen to them and they like them. I think that’s already a great accomplishment. I have a day job. Working for an IT company to make ends meet. Releases at this current moment should be 3. First was that cassette EP, Self-Titled (1996), second Dullaby (1999), let’s call that a mini album on cassette too. And the third one is This One’s Forever (2008) CD album….but this one is just a re-released material plus one previously unreleased track. My first band was ’Minority’ back in 1991 in Kuantan, Pahang. That’s where and when my involvement in this subculture started. It was that long but my involvement are not that much. Only working with my band and some other bands that I’m close with such as Enslaved Chaos. I don’t think that I’ve contributed a lot for the scene. But I’m happy to help bands or people if they need my help on anything if the situation permits. Basically, I helped them on some technical aspects of recordings or maybe some songwritings. Still not that much. I’m happy with what I have achieved but at the same time still trying to improve in a lot of areas. I never try to set a goal for my band or songwriting which is too ambitious. Just go with the flow and do what I think is right. One thing for sure, I hope that DEP will not be a part of the music industry, locally or globally. It’s very personal to me. I prefer to have a complete control on my music. We’re fine without the industry so why care? As of now I just stick to what I believe, whether I’m in the scene or not, I don’t believe in any trend or hype. The things that influenced me come in many forms that you mentioned. Books, zines, magazines, bands, music, people, friends and family. The influence can be from anything. Directly or indirectly.

Well, I’d say that almost everybody is going DIY these days. You can see these by numbers of shows, record/merchandising company/distro that people put up. I think it’s a positive development. Don’t you think? For DEP, we financed our own releases (not forgetting, with the help of some close friends at the earlier stage) and have a complete control on our music. We never rely on any major distributor. We sold our releases with the help of close friends, families and independent distros. We try our best to maintain the price of our releases as affordable as possible. We rarely communicate with bands outside Malaysia. I’m not sure why. In Malaysia we made friends with bands at shows normally, cuz that’s where bands will be right? Hanging out I’d say… not so much. But if we’re up to something like putting up shows, recordings and stuff, then we might gather and discuss. But this is very rare. I sometimes will give feedbacks in blogs or website. But most of the time I choose to be silent and just do things. I trust that action speaks louder than words and empty barrels make the most noise. My hometown use to be serene and calm but not anymore. It’s become another city in the making with the increase of number of traffics and pollutions. Nothing much to say about it now. But food is still cheap in some places. You can still get malay kuih, 5 pieces for a buck. Not bad, eh? Telok Cempedak is a good place to hang out but it’s too crowded now with Mat Kereta and Mat Rempit. Other places to hang out, hmmm, we have lots of good seafood restaurants in Tanjung Lumpur, but recommended to go there with Kuantan hommies. Or else, you’ll get cut throat price for your food. Dig? Red light district? Is there any in Kuantan? I’m not so good with the history. Sorry.

Tell me top 5 album/bands will changed your life ? hehe ? These day you can see a lot of music genre such as hardcore, punk, crust, fastcore, grindcore, noisecore ,powerviolence etc? which one to you is more have kick in the ass? How about tour? Has there ever been an instance when you do go on tour and find yourself so different in your political sensibilities that you have trouble getting along with the other bands? So what next? Any overseas tour plan ahead? Do u like to play in exotic place? For sure, we can taste the food, experience the culture and so on….automatically we can gain some knowledge about other country/tradition….

I can say all the records/albums that I listened to have changed my life one way or another. To narrow them to 5 is really a big challenge. Here goes, in no special order :
1) Suicidal Tendencies – How Will I Laugh Tomorrow?/Controlled By Hatred.
2) The Agent Orange – When You Least Expect It.
3) The Smiths – (Collections) Best 1 & 2
4) The Ramones - ** I’m not sure which one but their collections of songs compiled in a cassette by Epit (Minority).
5) Minority – Demo 91/92 – Quantity Doesn’t Matter

I hope you asked me at least 20… hehehe. People won’t believe me if I said my songwriting (words) influenced a lot from Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies). That’s where the “rhyming” in our songs come from. For me, a kick ass band doesn’t have to be the most fast/loud/skillful/political kinda band. Enough to be just honest and true to what they are into. There are many bands emerging nowadays, but we have very few that really have the qualities of a good band. Most I would say just fucking trendy and jumping into the bandwagon, dying for crowd acceptance. Playing in bands not because your friends play in bands. You should play in bands because you want to play in bands, write music etc. Everybody have their own reasons but please… NOT for the wrong reasons. I have to say this and this might hurt a lot of parties but yeah, truth hurts! So just live with it! There are only plans for tour for DEP but this will only remain as plans for the time being. I have a family and that’s quite hard for me. I trust that the rest has job commitments and stuff. I hope I can do that if the situation permits, like Indonesia or Thailand touring because the experience will be good. Bands should go on tour as this will help in promoting their bands and getting heaps of exposure on how performing beyond their comfort zone. Invaluable experience.

Last question, How do you define love and happiness? Do you believe in love? hehe Do you agree that love can make people’s life valuable and it also reflect to make people’s life miserable? hehe is it enough of it in this world or am I blind enough to see and forgetting that so much shit happened all over he world? Any last words, what would you like to see changing in 2008/2009? thanx for the time bro…keep on rocking…!!
Love and happiness will be so much better if they are accompanied with loads of cash. Hehehe. Yes, I do believe in love and I agree with your point there. I hope that for 2009 (since we’re at the end of 2008 already), people will make some effort of buying local bands’ releases rather than downloading/ripping them for free. Independent bands need your support. Not that “Indie Major Label” band ok. Please don’t get confused. Buy music only from non-major bands/distributors. For major (label) bands/music, I leave it to your creativity and technology on how to get them for FREE!

im so so surpised with this Mini Tour 2 November 2008 with 2 Japanese band - Brutal Terrorism and Money Is God along with some local crews like Hellexist, Wardogs, Skitsofrenia and Blinded Humanity(Singapore) This 2 Japanese Bands only play in Singapore and Johor Bahru only, but in Johor Bahru gig set is really different from other gig before we seen whether in Johor Bahru or maybe KL or the rest of any place in Malaysia... maybe this one we called as Wedding Dinner Gig Party...really surprised!! we can enjoy and share the moment of Money is God's vocalist and his wife married in our(msian)tradisional culture...its really good to taste , learn and experience other cultures, salute and respect from own control records to MIG's vox, you got the guts and edge! and i'm so happy to meet Mr Yasuki from Brutal Terrorism, Mr Yasuki is my old friend from Japan, we do trade stuffs and share some info before and its really awesome to meet your mate in reality world.... anyway, Brutal Terrorism is fuckin excellent... fast hardcore grind!!! very good!! i will upload the video live footage(the internet is so damn slow, can't do anything...suxx!!...(i also got some BT cds and tracks list BT set, thanx Yasuki...!) the dinner is awesome, the food is good, the tour tshirt is cool! the band and the show is great! good work Jimbo, keep on organizing some surprised show again in near future.... cheers!

welcome aboard... another brilliant writer from Embrace zines/records join forces with me to find the truth out there for this gore obsession blog....we like to pollute yer mind with J-Horror!

So what's going on? For this first installment, let me tell you about few Japanese horror movies (in short; J-Horror) that's worth buying their DVDs, put it in your mega-audio system DVD player, with big flat-screen TV, a glass of Teh-C, snacks, chips, anything to eat, get absolutely naked, lots of pillow (for covering your eyes that is), turn-off the lights to get more thrill, make sure it is past midnight (12PM-2PM is a goodtime to watch J-Horror) or you will get curse (you'll die horribly naked the next morning that is the curse), and get ready for some unforgettable midnight you'll ever experienced from the far-eastern magical you'll ever seen in your whole life. Lets tonight be the night.

Some things about Japan you ought to know. I love Japan; but don't anybody? The music scene over there is fantastic (any genres you come across), the country has many beautiful scenery and clean (well, that's at least what I've heard), 85% of most Japanese girls is whitey, noisy, pretty, slim, and has the best teeth, and they giggling a lot which is super sexy, Mount Fuji have the best views, and last but not least, their food taste so good (well, maybe, I don't know after all, hahaha).

Other than that, Japan also have the best horror movies compare to many other horror movies from any other countries around the world. Well, of course, some might not agree, but that's just my opinion. If not the best, they are mostly good, but I'm a fan so, of course my views about them will be 100% positive.

So, here I list down a few of it that you must see and experience it yourselves, and then decide whether if I'm just full load of shit or not.

One Missed Call (2004)
Starring J-Pop idol and lightly super gorgeous Kou Shibasaki (Sinking Of Japan, Shaolin Girl, etc). It's difficult to put this one on the first of the list because I have so many other favorites, but I would say that this one is what makes Japanese horror movies quite well-known to the foreign horror movie fans, although constantly being underrated and underestimated by many foreign movie makers (especially those money grabbers scumbags from Hollywood). This movie break the foreign market both locally and internationally because of its commercialism and the non anti-establishment attitude. In other words, this movie is totally for the mainstream market thus makes it quite simply entertaining rather than being down to earth nor blatant.

From what I read, the cost of production for this multi-selling, sold-out, unglamorous horror epic is expensive, despite the movie lack of sounds-effect system, or multi-camera angles, but how can that be? Simple, in Japan, movie-makers are not rich and most of them are economically unstable.

Movie production in Japan actually is quite expensive, but on the other hand the anime production is rather cheap, so that's why the anime business production is more demanding than the actual movies. The director for OMC is lucky enough to have a star such as Kou Shibasaki (she actually ignored the invitation from Quentin Tarantino to be in Kill Bill a year before that; later Lucy Liu took that $$$ offer) for his first try on the mainstream movie market. The Director, Mike Takashi is well-known around the independent movie scene and he is probably the best right now in the Japanese independent movie-making circle.

You don't get the same faces in the Japanese horror movies. Every horror movies has different talents from youngest, newest, and oldest folks, so you get to see all new fresh talented actors/actresses every time there's a new horror on the brinks. (in Malaysia you get the same faces acting in love story, ghost story, mat rempit story, police story, orang kaya story, lawak bodoh story, and suddenly they can turn to singers too, that's a multi-triple talented from malaysian actors/actresses if you have ask me).

One Missed Call is a story about a girl who has freaky past histories with her mentally disturbed mother who severely tortured and abused her, while seeing her grandmother committing suicide added that to her craziness childhood until she escaped and runaway from home at the age of 20's.

The frightening begins when she and her few friends started to get a missed call, and later one by one died of horrifying and unexplainable death that took her mentally off (some deaths happened infront of her eyes), and nearly makes her go beyond craziness. The acting of Kou Shibasaki seeing the death of her friends was pretty good. It is considered to be the best part by many people who have watched OMC.

She then got help from a kind detective who happened to experience the same death that happened to his sister as well after getting a missed call with the same eerie scary ringtone. The plot goes on really well, although the fright, the jumpy, and the suspense never ends until the last minute of it, despite the ending being quite erratic if you ask me. You need a lot of guts for this one, maybe watch it with around 1-2 friends will be a good idea. For those who have heart problem, it's not recommended, or else you'll be the first to die among anybody who have seen this. (4/5)

PS do not watch the remake by Hollywood scumbags, it's a total flop, as always.

Audition (1999)
Let me begin by quoting the infamous Christian phrase, "Darkness covers a multitude of sins". Audition seems to be fall into dark horror film category until you realize it's not just about that. For the first 20 minutes, you'll be consumed by the mainstream ordinary lifestyle of the lead character who was a film producer, a father to a good son, a widow, a friendly neighbor, and a lonely guy who just want to find a new wife and romance.

Everything is just so numb, lifeless, and quite for him, until he get to know a mysterious girl who came to a fake movie audition. From the first minutes he saw her, he's just so interested to know this rather charming ordinary looking girl. It then became his obsession, whilst starting to abandoned advices from his good friend who's started to seen some fraud in the girl resume who claimed herself as a ballet-dancer.

In the last 20 minutes, this cute shy girl starts to reveals what's under her boredom all this while. Her dark atrocity sins consist of bloody violence-gore-torturing-murdering, and she's doing it all, and that her new lover boy becomes the latest autopsy using drugs, needles, and piano wire to cut off his legs and so on and on. Darn it, apparently she's a butcher, not a dancer. And you just can hear the sounds when the wire string grinding the bones it's so surreal I think to myself whether if it's real or not. It's so terrifying not to mentioned purely ultra-violent with blood tarnish all over the floor for the last 20minutes. A total abhorrent.

Audition theme is not about horror and it's a not a ghost story but rather about resentment, and perhaps more about loneliness in Japan gloomy society that has been transcend to real violent and nightmare by the director (I honestly think Mike Takashi is almost out of his mind, but wait for my review on Visitor Q; I almost puke watching this one), with very disturbing views and scene cuts, and gore, and annoying imagery, especially the part where she vomit and gave it to her victim and he's slurping as if it was a mushroom soup, totally 100% unacceptable.

Audition is absolutely not for fans of Adam Sandler or Rosham Nor movies. Recommended only for fans of hardcore horror and violent theme movies. Audition makes Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre as The Flintstones and ET that's for sure. (4/5)

Today I went out with my wife to have dinner at JAKE’S CHARBROIL STEAKHOUSE , a western cusine that will make your mouth watering.hahahaha…well the restaurant is located at MEDAN DAMANSARA one row with well known SRI AYUTHIA (a pure thailand foods) and VICTORIA STATION STEAKHOUSE . Another one located at Starhill Shopping Centre (new branch).
The menu is simple, easy to understand and the price I’d can say quite reasonable as it’s a very large portion of food.

As for a starter me and my wifey order a dozen of oyster (Fresh Oysters Au Natural), Clam Chowder (a kind of soup)Escargot Bourguignonne (SNAILS)and Beef Nachos.Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh…so damn tasty!!!! FYI I freakin fuckin love oyster!!! The one dozen itself is just for me!!!! Slurppppyyy and Yummmyyyyyy!!

Time for main course, my wife have Australian Grain Fed Spare-Rib in BBQ sauce Bone In(300 gm) and I have the Australian Grain Fed Steak (200gm)..juicy and tender meat…wow..i have a very good dining today and I hope that you guys enjoy the pic and if you camo to my place insyallah..i’ll bring you here!

holy shit!!! today me and Mr Amir (from 240 Noise Volts) just saw and experienced Kluang in chaos...!! supposed this trip,it should be a trio(unlucky for Mr Saha, dia sakit gigi ler kata dia....so takleh nak join and buka kat luar...he he he)so we experienced on heavy rain situation while shop for food for berbuka and have to take a shelter in between the stalls... even Mr Amir just meet that someone that he dont want to meet for the rest of his life....guess who? hehe and we been in one shelter with mat perang(you know what i mean,huh?) and yea...we saw in front of our fucking eyes one stall big umbrella flying over infront of us.... what the hell? hehe ... lucky for us, we survived.... so Mr Amir...keep this date in your diary.... one of the most adventure day in life...

When young musicians start playing extreme metal, they have easy choice what bands should be their influences. I’m fine as always. Life’s been OK but still shitty at workplace..ha!..ha!...SICKNESS been around since ’95 due to our excitement of intense music. We’re just a small band from a small town. Current line-up of SICKNESS is my two friends that I’ve met (Aizal – bass & Fad – drums) in JB during jamming sessions and almost immediately hook them up to join SICKNESS. Our purpose is just keeping the ‘real’ grind scene alive which SICKNESS started 13 years ago. The only accomplishment that we want is recognition worldwide…as simple as that. Beside being in a band, I work in a small factory here in JB to finance my life because SICKNESS is still DIY band and not sold out yet!..ha!..ha!.
As for SICKNESS releases, most old materials such as the rehearsal tape ’95, ‘Ulcerous Intestine’96 and ‘Faecal Disarticulation’’98 are not available anymore. So for those who still have ‘em, consider yourselves lucky!..ha!..ha!.. . The studio release tape ‘Empathological Excavations’ and a number of compilations are still available. Kindly please contact Own Control Records for the materials and upcoming stuffs.
I’ve been in the scene since my high school days where the scene was at it’s peak around 1988, since then until now. As for the scene, seriously there is no more scene now. It faded because it’s not ‘underground’ now. The scene was supposedly hard to detect and kept within the scene. And supposedly all DIY and supported among real scenesters. Most stuff is transparent on the web nowadays and too many copycat bands just to gain popularity. This hurts me and it’s not the spirit of underground. To me, the scene was dead years ago. No offense! SICKNESS is not trying to set a trend, since the beginning and till we putrify…ha!...ha!..we’ll still be the same.
SICKNESS is still inspired by gore and the only and true goregrind band was the legendary CARCASS. Just listen to their first two releases, pure gore! Forget about their ‘un-gore’ releases. SICKNESS shall continue what they’ve ended. Other band that inspired us include OLD LADY DRIVERS, ASSUCK, NAPALM DEATH, S.O.D, SLAYER and also NIRVANA! To name a few. Zines were (in those days) were METAL HAMMER, KERRANG, METALHEAD, GILA-GILA, UJANG etc.
Besides all these things, my inspiration/influences also comes from medical books(the subject attracts me). I also enjoy superhero movies, Japan anime and hot & spicy foods!.ha!.ha!.

What do you think about DIY these day? Do you practice it especially in doing your music? I believe people who practice DIY ideology what to have absolutely 120% control on them and how far do you concern where your records will go especially in records store? distribution? wholesales etc.? Talking about communication, do you guys always communicate with other bands, people in and outside Kluang(hehehe) or maybe Malaysia? Do you do any feedback?
DIY these days are improved by a big factor which is technology. Back then in the 80’s & 90’s, there were no good tool for us to produce high quality materials. Kids these days have a big advantage in producing stuffs totally using computer technology…from designing artwork, recording, producing and even self printing. DIY today is much easier and less effort compared before the technology where only used tape for recording and designing artwork by hand. All bands including the legendary ones progressed with the technology and SICKNESS is no exception.
As for our music goes, SICKNESS doesn’t mind if we sell 10 copies or a million of ‘em, by DIY or distro, as long as we still love what we produce, we will always have our satisfaction.
Our communication with other is still strong between our hometown bands and as for outside hometown or the country, our communication is fading due to a lot of band is in hiatus or lost contact. Another problem is..we didn’t keep track…sorry guys! (I’m getting older!). For those out there who can’t directly contact us, please do through Own Control Records.

How do you define GRINDCORE? Is it really artful and meaningful to you? Is it a trend now? These day you can see a lot of music genre such as hardcore, punk, crust, fastcore, grindcore, noisecore ,powerviolence etc? which one to you is more have kick in the ass?! Describe your hometown….. heard from people, in early 90’s it’s a noise city!!! But it’s a underrated by so-called journalist, but who cares anyway? Any favourite spot to hang around? Best food, drink, or maybe red-light district there(hehehe)? Or maybe you want to share the history of your hometown to the readers? Tell me top 5 album/bands will changed your GRINDCORE life ? hehe
Not only Grindcore, Death, Punk, Hardcore, Emo etc..are all fine art to me and I believe to all undergrounders worldwide. Let me tell you a thing, a lot of so called ‘high level’ or ‘mainstream’ people condemn intense underground music basically because they say is insanely loud or untalented musicians making noise! We can say the same thing to those fine art paintings which is to me is just untalented painter who can’t really paint by drawing scribbles and stupid lines. To them that’s art! Huh! What do they understand? We should decapitate their pruned genitals, mash them to a pulp and let themselves masticate their pungent corpulence!..ha!..ha!..gore!
If you ask me which genre has the most kick in the ass…well personally I’d say Thrash Metal! No band in the universe kick more asses than the immortal SLAYER!! (enough said!)
As for my hometown, in early ‘90s, it was grind/noise city of past era. Anyone who wants to know can find the info for themselves in the blogspot. To much to tell here. A small and quiet town but modest place to live. The best spots to hang around there is the railway station’s breakfast and dinner stalls. Killers!! They serve the best coffee, steamed buns/bread (breakfast in general) and the best fried rice I’ve ever tasted! Hot & spicy foods all the way! It’ll make your jugular veins incinerate and your intestines burst with pus!..ha!..ha!...gore!..

SICKNESS would love to play gigs and it’s possible to see us play live. We’ll be glad to accept. SICKNESS been around for 13 years now and we’ve only played twice throughout our career! It’s true! The first was in Seremban in ’96 and the last one in JB around 2002 (I think). The most memorable gig was the first one where none had heard of us before (3 kids from a small town sharing stage with the nations other known bands). We were first to play and we brutally pounded the speakers! Man I tell you, the whole crowd that day cheered us and shouted not to stop (we had recorded the gig to prove…ha!..ha!..). The best thing is, we had the whole support from my hometown boys where at that time, all Kluang scenesters/friends came down to that gig and gave us their full support! Thanks guys!..you rule!.. I’ll never forget you all…salute!..
The feedback I got after the gig was, all the bands that played after us had a hangover. Our tunes still plays in their heads after the gig was over. No joke. To all that was present that day…hope to meet you all again…
I don’t know with whom the other wants to play with, but I would certainly love to share stage with the legendary IRON MAIDEN! The first time I’ve heard them, they totally blew me away! Just listen to their first 7 albums and you’ll know what I mean, universally speaking. They are the reason I’ve picked up the guitar!...ha!..ha!... The other band is….the immortal SLAYER!!! No doubt they are the gods of metal!!! No fucking band in the whole fucking universe can touch them!...fearless man!
Future plans for SICKNESS is to record a full length and perhaps a discography(everybody been asking) probably in next year. I would like to do it earlier but due to my shitty work life…ha!...ha!... We hope can play more gigs in the future besides promoting our materials. SICKNESS will still be grinding and I’m not planning to stop what I’ve started. Well…we have to stay true to ourselves and not fucking popularity (big words huh!)

How the weather ? any introduction from you, your bands etc..? what 240 Noise Volts means after all? It’s a grindnoise band or maybe a boys band….? Hehe I been tracking your bands kinda like from late 90’s, do you guys feel bored, jaded or maybe disillusioned with the same direction? Or you wanna changed the direction? Maybe want to add background dancer? Or maybe shuffle stuff in your grindcore element recipes?

Answer: Hi back Zuhree!! First of all I would like to say SORRY for my humble English… and as a usual, nothing much from me.. life is much more complicated then the old days.
Tonight, (morning actually!) the weather is quite good at the outside. the wall fan keep spinning as usual feeling a bit sleepy.. and my lappy start releasing some heat form the hard disk drive.
Okay here we go, hi to all this is Amir from Kluang Johor, West Malaysia. Im 35 male and still single and available. As for the old days some friends know me as a guitar player for 240 Noise Volts, Increases Noise (R.I.P) and drummer in a Punk band called Distrust Is Abuse (R.I.P).
Around mid 1996 me, Baba, Jake, Unta and Azrin formed a grind band for fun and we started it as a project between Increases Noise, Distrust Is Abuse and Sickness. It just an easy and simple grind/noise band there’s nothing special about it.
At first start, the band has no name and if not mistaken Baba and Jake came with a name “240 NOISE VOLTS” and it sound something silly, stupid, untalented, Rockstar, Pornstar and a bit disturbing but for sure its nothing to do with T.N.B and their electric! We all agree to use the name as our “untalented” bands name.
Yeah we started as a grind/noise band! After involved with some problem we changed our music style and played grindcore in our 1^st demo. Now planning to change it back to our first started.

2)the influences?
Answer: We do have influences but it’s easy if I say our influences come from some old and new grind/noise bands. To name a few Infectious Maggots, O.L.D, Dahmer and so on.

3)Top 5 Albums/Bands? And why, dude…..?
Answer: Too many bands to list here but here are some of my fav albums/bands.

Dahmer is my all time fav.. To tell you the truth I always wanted to play and sound like them hahaha!! Shame on me.. but that’s the true bud. Dahmer always killing me with their killer blast and er.. enough if I say… their beautiful sound!! DAHMER = GRINDCORE, GRINDCORE = is an ART.

2. EP 2002 - Captain Cleanoff
What did you expect?? King of grind from Australia! I love this band so much. Looking forward to see them live. (Tell Saha the band is not shit enough to using the fuckin drum machine haha!)

3. 7” 1994 – Disprove
Nothing much just a simple and yet interesting Punk band from Japan.

4. Deep Within Our Grief Factory Milk Runs Red – Infectious Maggots
The best grind/industrial/noise band from our local scene!! One of my all time fav and they influenced me a lot!

5. Come get some EP – Neuropathia
A grind/noise from Poland that give me more power to continue what I’ve played 15 years a go. Always wanted to form a band like Neuropathia.

Answer: Yeah I love Kluang very much although sometimes I feel quite lonely and boring here. We have the best fishing spot around Kahang, Gunung Lambak Recreational Park, Gunung Berlumut Recreational Park, Tasik Majlis (Oops I did it again!) and many more. So come here and be the one who first come to Kluang! We also can offer you some chicks from those Mat Rempit gang (belanja alur bontot) you just name it!
Chicks here were more into “Rempit” and stuff and yes some of them always kicking my butt, but as I “cannot make it”, and I only have an original Kriss (Kriss - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modenas) that mean im not into the scene so NO REMPIT means no chick for me! so here we go....this is the first interview we have here with my trusted ally and kick ass buddy Mr Saha from Embrace zine , the emo punkrocker for all time, maybe he will be hall of fame one day, hehe hehehe i'm feel like an old day doing my classic zine...hell yeah!

1)Hello Saha,… how today in Kluang? How’s the weather? Tell us something about yourself? About Embrace zine? Has the new issue already out and what the direction this time? Still remain as hardcore/punk zine? How long you been in the hc/punk scene? What have you done since then? Are you happy with it? Do you ever feel bored, twisted or maybe you wanna changed to new hype in town? Hehe
I’m fine, it’s hotter than hell in kluang, so I drink a lot of water, and try to remain cold after bath. I’m 33 years old this year and have been doing embrace zine since 10years ago, and have 15 issue so far and will have a new issue pretty soon. I’ve been active in the local HC/punk scene since 1995 by doing zines, tape label, distribution and so on. I am probably the only active guy in the Malaysian HC scene that remain these days, everybody else is dead, and I’m glad for that because they never do it really good when they were alive hahahaha what a statement. But honestly, yeah I don’t think anyone from the early years is still here now doing what they do back in the days. Maybe they’re still around just hang out and talk shits, and nothing more which is still fine for me. But hardcore is more that that, to me this is my life, and this is what I do, and I’m going to do it and continue supports the scene, keep it alive, and strong, and live the lifestyle for as long as I can. Hardcore as fuck that is, and not for the fakes. I’m not gonna be anything else. And I’m not gonna change myself for someone else or for anything. Like I said, hardcore is the way of life, and it’s my life, so I feel good about it. I see a lot of hypocrites and stupidity in other lifestyle I see everyday, and I’m not gonna be like them, I’m not gonna be like people who drive the street, who works a better job, who got a wife, and think that they have it all in this world. I’m not gonna miss all that. To me, this world has so much to offer than to live like an average typical malay guy. Hardcore is about making a change, and a counter culture so that’s what important to me. If others want to be a normal person, and sit back complacent, that’s not my problem. It’s just funny that most people complaining how sucks life is and blablabla. I think people complaining about their own live that they chosen foolishly is better off dead. There’s no way living if you’re not happy with the life you lives. I would rather be dead than be in something that I’m not happy doing it. But for the moment, I’m so happy with my life. I am for real, and not into hype, trend, or fashion. Everybody else is fake, and that’s the truth.

2)For the first time I read Embrace zine in late 90’s, I assume it will remain one of the great hc/punk zine in Kluang(or maybe Malaysia history,hehe) and great!! it’s still remain until today…. When you started the zine? any calculation on it? Tell us the story in the old back years, what is the main problem when you started this zine? How much did you spend the money for copied it and print it? For each issue, how long did you prepare, collect the stuff, interview, review etc…. and got anyone who helped you to run this zine?
Well, thanks for your kind words, and for still tracking down the zine since the late 90’s. Embrace zine started in late 1996, and I have its first issue out on early 1997. So far it has 15 issue and going sweet 16 this september 2008. So Embrace zine is almost 12years old now, can you say that a lot to other local zines as well? I don't think so. I have spent quite a lot of money of course especially during early years becos I have been doing everything on the internet café back then. But only this few years since I have a computer at home things been going easy. But it’s not about the money really, becos if you love doing something, you don’t care how much you spent. You just love how it looks when you have it infront of you, and things really shapes from there. Internet helped a lot, but during the early days I sent interviews through the snail mails, and sometimes it took 5 years for the bands to reply my questions hahaha, just kidding, but email makes everything a lot more easier. I think after issue 3, I did most interviews on emails and it’s a great way to communicate with people. Doing zine these days is a lot easier than back in the 90’s, but I’m glad I have been on the both situation in the zine making experience. It makes me appreciated more of what I do, and I think that is one of the reason I still keep doing it. It is a part of my lives as well, even if it’s only a bit of it.
Some people helped me do reviews, scene reports back then, but they just come and go, but in this 2 years I have few local kids helping me on the zine. I have a second editor now, and 3-4 others who helping with reviews and columns regularly. This is great, and it’s cool to be a boss out of something you do haha. But all in all, Embrace is doing great these days and I think we have a few more years for it, and we are positively looking forward to that.

3)What are the bands, zine, books, model, community, TV etc that give big impact to you (influences)? Do you get them thru reading stuff or in musical aspects or from individual figures, families? Or it could be all this while you’re only own your own? What kind of music that you been listening lately? Any kicking ass music/bands? So how life you been thru in Kluang? Eating and Hang around is cool there! Tell the readers, which spot that is evergreen, classic and worthwhile to check it out for tourist down here(hehehe) any favourite food down there and a must for eat-lover or maybe eat-lover wanna-be? Hehe
There is definitely few things that keep me going, and keep inspiring me right from good music, great movies, good zines, great bands, amazing friends I have both locally and internationally, wonderful mom & dad, my great sister and her children, and so much more. I am definitely will not be strong if it’s not for them and things like that. I am willing to learn from others and I keep learning from time to time. Life is too precious, it’s huge, and it’s such a waste if you ignore it and refuse to learn and just live in ignorant and be stupid for the rest of your life. A lot of people is so timid and think that enough is enough, but life’s not like that. There will never be enough in life. You should strive for more. And I’m not talking about wealth or popularity or lust or things like that. So many people stop being marginal and be like a regular person when they reach 30 or something. But I say, age is just a number. If you think age is what matters, then you can be 23 or be 27 and feel as old as 31 or 184 years old. I say screw that. I feel young all the time, and I laugh at people who think they’re older and wiser and think that I should be like them and grow up and get wise, and all the crap. Well, if you feel old, then please, die.
Be your own self, and not what majority tells you of who you are and what you are. The majority is always on the wrong side of things, it's like there is too many voices in the crowd and you can hear that nothing is clearly right. So I say, what matters is what you think and what you feel deep down inside you.
Currently I’m listening to lots of classic and new hardcore such as Mainstrike, Nations On Fire, Carry On, The First Step, Betrayed, Sportswear, Los Crudos, In My Eyes, Ignite (I saw them live recently, they ruled!), Paint It Black, Redemption 87, Insted, Highscore, Manliftingbanner, True Colors, 108, Chain of Strength, Youth of Today, Better than a thousand, Turning Point, SS Decontrol, Outlast, Infest, 7 Seconds, and few metal bands such as Morning Again, Culture, Catharsis, Converge, Sparkle of Hope, Sauna, Refused, Kindred, Slayer, Acme, also The Ramones, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Bad Religion and like 2 weeks ago I got this amazing CD’s of Angela Aki, a female pianist/singer from Japan and I’m into her at the moment and few other bands I forgot right now. There’s too many good shit these days. Music is my life!
Well, my life is mostly about doing a record label right now, Embrace Records is busy with a new release, and future releases as well, and we keep promoting the current releases together with the older ones as well. We have few t-shirts and our distribution is getting new stuff and getting huge as well. All of this keep me busy, so sometimes when I want to be relief, I call up local friends and meeting them in the town and hang out together and talking rubbish, or sometimes serious topics as well, and hang out for hours in a local coffee shop. If anybody fool enough to drop by in this little town, they should go and stop and have a drink at Railway Coffee in the town area or another branch at the Kluang Railway Station nearby. But we always hang around at the town area shop because it’s more coolest and not as busy as the one at the Railway Station. My favorite foods and drinks overthere would be “roti keping bakar” and “teh c”, but everything is great there. The waiters is nice and people enjoying themselves while eating and drinking at this shop. It’s a great place, and a classic spot, a bit expensive but what the hell, it’s better than mamak stall that serve too many oily unhealthy foods (although i love eating at mamak stalls as well especially the kari kambing and roti nan hahhaha), and there’s always too many “rip-off” malay restaurants around here. We keep it save and cool all the time, we are the coolest kids in town so we hang out at the coolest place.

4)What album have you listened to more than any other in your life? Please list out 5 of your favorite bands? From the sources that we got(hehe)you are so damn fanatics, lunatic, die-hard fans for Asia Horror film….tell us something about this…. Some people still blind with Hollywood Horror…tell us your favorite Asia Horror movie…do you think in upcoming future, more and more Asia horror outfit will kick some Hollywood Horror ass?(infact…these day Asian Horror still have kick in the ass!!)
Wow this is another difficult questions becos I’ve been listening to a lot lately to the music that I’ve been discovered 10-15years ago. Recently I listen to the Neds Atomic Dustbin “Are You Normal?”, Youth of Today “Break Down The Walls”, Slayer “Reign In Blood”, Suicidal Tendencies “Still Cyco after all these Years”, and this were the first few music I’ve been discovered in my secondary school years back in 1992. So it’s great to have that memory back remembering how stupid I was in my 16 jumping around my room listening to these bands. But the albums that I’ve been listening like almost everyday from time to time is Youth of Today “We’re Not In This Alone”, Quicksand “Slip”, Mainstrike “Quest For the Answers”, Morrissey “Bona Drag” and so on. 5 favorite bands is difficult to give but I try: Youth Of Today, Quicksand, The Smiths, Fugazi, Slayer.
Haha yeah where did you find this information my friend? I am absolutely a die hard asian horror fans (especially jap horror) together with a mystery local friend hahaha. We like to be in a darkness life. We sometimes go to the cinema together for the recent horror movies, it’s funny because most of our other friends don’t like to watch horror movies and don’t fully understand why we are into this damn thing, but I tell you we are freaks, we literally watch any asian horror we can get and we talked about it the next days like there’s no more tomorrow, but it’s cool to find someone who has similar interest as you becos we can share and talk about it together at any time especially during our tea times at our favorite local hang outs. Well I don’t understand how can Hollywood get any great asian horror and did a terrible version of it and called it brilliant afterward. Did you watched the remake of Ringu, man that was a disaster remake version ever made by this Hollywood brats, but it’s about money and lack of ideas I think. Hollywood is a disaster industry, they probably stronger (in terms of financial and stuff like that) but the strong they become the less wiser they be, and they just come and destroy everything, they produce many garbage they call fantastic movies ever made in the world. I totally can’t understand Star Wars, Matrix, Rambo and many crap like that. I know all these movies has its own diehard fans, but I’m not into garbage. Hollywood never made any great horror movies in this past 10-15years or maybe 20years, but I never liked them anyway so I don't really give a fuck.
I loved asian horror especially because they tells the real story and the details, story that might happened around them, that closely related to their own unique cultures that they never replicate them from others, and that’s why it’s brilliant. The great thing is in this modernism it’s conflicted with science so most asian horror especially Japanese always mix tradition beliefs and science in their horror movies and makes you go around nuts watching over it because you have to view them in many aspects and it’s difficult when science involved. I'm not good in chemicals and biologies. Anyway, I would say that most Malaysian horror is typical tho, and I’m not into it.

I can’t tell much to the readers about what to expect in the future as I myself have lots of expectation as well, but the new issue will be ready this September 2008 is all I can say for now. Classic rock zine is possible since I’m listening to AC/DC and Led Zeppelin lately hahahha, you got me there my friend. Well, thanks for the interview and hope to see you soon. i enjoy reading these weeks...damn, its a rainy day! what else to do...read and read.... so these week i'm been interested to read this book The Dirt - Motley Crue: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band very good dude!! from the synopsis it's stated Motley Crue was the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of the power ballad, and the pioneers of Hollywood glam. Their sex lives claimed celebrities like Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson as well as teenage groupies all over the world. When they weren't appeasing their voracious sexual appetites, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars cultivated their other interests - collecting automatic weapons, creating long and lurid rap sheets, doing every conceivable drug in every conceivable fashion and dreaming up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty. Provocatively written and brilliantly designed, this book includes over 100 photos for the most insightful look ever into the Crue - the most infamous band in the world. The Dirt spent four weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold over 13,000 copies in hardback in the UK. and i heard that this book - The Dirt will be on movie and probably will be on cinema on 2009....If you have any kind of musical taste at all, you cannot imagine how Motley Crue ever sold 40 million records through their career. They obviously caught the big wave just right and despite their short comings (often admitted by themselves in the book) they made a mint, and then proceeded to blow it. The story is told from at least four angles, and one or two other witnesses pipe up occasionally (though sadly none of the superbabes, whose names pepper the pages as wives, girlfriends and one nighters), and this makes for a soul searching, and one has to assume, honest tale of the dramatic rise, and crashing fall of the most overhyped of 80's acts. It is a great read, and I found it almost impossible to put down. I also found myself disappointed when I finished it, which is as good a sign of a cracking book as I can think of. The weirdest thing of all is that I actually liked them at the end of it (except Vince Neil who comes over as a real dick head) despite blowing the lifestyle that untold thousands of us would swap for in a moment. The ironic message in the end is that they would much rather be like most of us - regular family men - than the most notorious band in rock. They seemed to have gone through an awful lot of trouble just to find that out! This is by far the most entertaining rock autobiography I have read. These guys were insane!! The stories they tell are hilarious and also touching and the book is unputdownable. I definitely recommend this book for anyone with an interest in this genre.

somehow somewhere i been cleaning and arranging my room for good condition and so damn lucky i found some hidden treasure... one of it is my last issue of own control records zine that released somewhere around late 90's damn good!!!maybe its already 10 years (i lost the calculation,the date when the zine released?!)and it comes with DIY compilation tape too if you add some $$$.... its kinda like memory...when you are young, you been doing this shit, even your mom ask you to grow up and dont be stupid to publish kinda like cut and paste fanzine, nowhere publishing fanzine(yeah infact we doing it for fun, in the sake of the scene, just for mailorder(snail mail rules!!), we are not like URTV,Mangga etc that can be found in near shop!) and the end of the day, it become classic and nostalgia... everything got moment of time! Quality Of Time like my friend - baba a.k.a the fortune teller @ the english translator said, hehe anyway, my last issue zine is super thick! and this issue seem to be harder work and again contribution from Luis(Abducao Extrema - from Brasil) and Richard(UxPxS - from Holland) really help alot!!and for my personal view, this issue is a NETWORK OF FRIENDS kinda 3 way split zine with OWN CONTROL, ABDUCAO EXTREMA and UxPxS zine... and yeah! this issue is especially dedicated to Yuki Mass Genocide....(a big dissapointed news that tell us the band split up...??)what the hell.... this is great band and great outfit that comes out from Yuki beside her former band,Sink....hail japanese hardcore band! Great interview with Disyouth Attitude from Spain, Mindbreaker zine from Belgium, Dekadent from Germany, Charlie Don't Surf from Belgium, Slap A Ham Records from USA, Phobia from USA, Estigia from Spain, Melee from USA, Terrible Headache from Japan, Autophagia from Greece, Rabies from Czech Rep, Ulcerrhoea from Germany, Brody's Militia from USA and Uncurbed from Sweden wow!!! and plus with South Korea hc/punk scene report , Davao, Philppines scene report along with thick review of CD,tape,7",EP,LP and so on.... such a great issue and i miss those fanzine years.....

Tom yum (Thai: ต้มยำ, IPA: [tôm jɑm], also sometimes romanized as tom yam or dom yam) is a soup originating from Thailand. It is perhaps one of the most famous dishes in Thai cuisine. It is widely served in neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, and has been popularized around the world.

Tom yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant herbs generously used. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, shallots, lime juice, fish sauce, tamarind, and crushed chili peppers.

In Thailand, tom yum is usually made with prawns (tom yum goong), chickentom yum gai), fish (tom yum pla), or mixed seafood (tom yum talay or tom yum po taek) and mushrooms - usually straw or oyster mushrooms. The soup is often topped with generous sprinkling of fresh chopped coriander (cilantro) leaves.

The less popular variety of tom yum is tom yum nam khon (Thai: ต้มยำน้ำข้น), where coconut milk is added to the broth. This is not to be confused with tom kha or tom kha gai - where the galanga flavor dominates the soup. Tom yum nam khon is almost always made with prawns, whereas chicken is often used in tom kha. Its other cousin is less well-known outside Thailand - tom klong. Sometimes Thai chili jam (Nam Prik pao, Thai: น้ำพริกเผา) is added: this gives the soup a bright orange colour and makes the chili flavor more pronounced.

Commercial tom yum paste is made by crushing all the herb ingredients and stir-frying in oil. Seasoning and other preservative ingredients are then added. The paste is bottled or packaged, and sold around the world. Tom yum flavored with the paste may have different characteristics to that made with fresh herb ingredients.

Kluang scene report

Kluang scene started around late 80’s during the glory days of extreme music. Also to make long story short, few bands and also fanzines spawned due to keep the spirit of extreme music alive. As I can recall, the first band that rose from Kluang scene that time probably was thrash band HELLGUARD around early 90’s. They were heavily influenced by thrash legends like SLAYER, MEGADETH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, SODOM, VOIVOD, OVERKILL etc..just to name a few. Unfortunately they disbanded and never released any material.

To keep the spirit alive, ex-HELLGUARD members reformed with new members under a new name INCREASES NOISE. With Noisecore/Grind as a new path, they released their first rehearsal tape titled ‘Suffer’ around ’94 and second rehearsal demo around ‘96. Featured in a lot of fanzines, they gained recognition with their releases since very few or probably no Malaysian band were into this genre at that time and received a lot of positive feedback from M’sian scene.

Around ’95 ~ ’96, a GoreGrind band SICKNESS were the follow-up of Kluang’s ‘Grind’ scene. Keeping Kluang’s ‘Grind’ scene alive, they’ve released their first self titled rehearsal tape around ’95. In ’96, their second rehearsal demo release titled ‘Ulcerous Intestine’ made the band recognized securing a name to the M’sian scene. Their third material titled ‘Faecal Disarticulation’ rehearsal demo released around ’97 ~ ’98 was the last release with the original line-up. In 2003, SICKNESS emerged again with their studio released tape titled ‘Empathological Excavations’. SICKNESS also appeared in quite a number of compilation songs mostly taken from the studio release. The band is still active till today.

A lot of bands spawned during that time such as 240 NOISE VOLTS, BOMBSHELL, D.I.A..as I can recall, BOMBSHELL and D.I.A were great Hardcore/Metal influenced band and did release rehearsal demos. Unfortunately these two bands disbanded due to internal problems. However 240 NOISE VOLTS were very and still active till today. A Fun/Grind/Noise band influenced by the likes of the first OLD LADY DRIVERS masterpiece release and PUNGENT STENCH, members consists from INCREASES NOISE, SICKNESS, BOMBSHELL and D.I.A. they’ve released masterpieces such as their first two rehearsal demo were just plain masterpieces playing totally pure Fun/Grind/Noisecore both releases in ’96 namely ‘Untitled’ and ‘Noisecore si Labu Labi’. In ’97, they’ve released a split tape with BOMBSHELL and finally a demo titled ‘Menselijke Arrogante Klootzak’ in 2004. The band is still active till today.

A lot of bands spawned during and after the era such as RECONSTRUCT (Crustcore), released quite a number of self and split releases. UNVEILED (Brutal Death Metal), released a rehearsal tape around ’98, a demo titled ‘Carnage by Disease’ around ’99 and in the same year released a split CD with TRAUMA from Indonesia. NOIZYMUTHA (Noisecore), a new noisemaker in Kluang scene, did release a few rehearsal tape, split and appearing in quite a number of compilations. The band is in hiatus now.

Other than bands, Kluang scene also contributed fanzines and distribution label to the underground scene. Around the early days, the fanzines were The Underground ‘Zine(Metal, Punk, Hardcore) , Skin My Skin ‘zine(Punk), Angel of Death ‘zine(Metal, Black), a few punk related fanzine which I couldn’t remember and the only running and current fanzine is Embrace (punk/rock/emo) which is widely known today.

Beside that, Kluang scene has a distribution label ‘Own Control Records’ which is strongly running currently which produced a lot of compilations, split CDs with bands worldwide and also band T-shirts focusing mainly on their hometown bands.

In short, Kluang had a great scene especially during ’92 ~ ’99 era which was widely respected nationwide and even from our neighbourhood countries such as S’pore, Indonesia and Thailand. Also doesn’t mean that it has not a great scene now, only that most of the band members and the Kluang scenesters has other life related commitments and will still keep the scene alive only at slower pace.
